The 44-year-old model is expecting her sixth child, and the little one will be her third with her husband, Antoine Arnault, 48, who she married in 2020.
Vogue France confirmed Natalia and Antoine’s happy news with a post on the publication’s Instagram page.
Claire Thomson-Jonville, Vogue France’s head of editorial content, wrote: “Between two runway shows, at the start of the year, Natalia Vodianova confided in me that she was pregnant. Her sixth child, at 44. I knew immediately that she had to be our summer cover star.
“During our conversation, Natalia perfectly incarnates this kind of motherhood, chosen and fully owned. She was reflective on how fortunate she is have this chance.
“Motherhood has become a political subject. In France, “demographic rearmament” has forced its way into public debate and with it, a quiet pressure on women’s bodies and choices. We reject that framing entirely.”
Russian supermodel Natalia – who has three older children with her ex-husband Justin Portman, who she was married to from 2001 to 2011 – and Antoine married in an intimate ceremony at a registry office in Paris, France in September 2020.
At the time, Natalia shared a photo on Instagram in which she and her new husband looked delighted as they walked out of the registry office building to a stream of confetti from their assembled guests.
The model carried a simple bouquet and wore a cream collared Ulyana Sergeenko Couture dress with hand-stitched embroidery.
She captioned the image: “Oui”.
The couple – who have Maxim, 12, and Roman, nine, together – were originally planning to marry on 27 June before the coronavirus pandemic hit.
When one friend lamented the fact she couldn’t be there, Natalia replied in the comments: “you’ll be there for the religious wedding, my love. We are waiting for our friends [prayer and heart emojis] (sic)”.
Natalia – who appeared on the cover of American Vogue in September 2004 alongside Gisele Bündchen and Daria Werbowy – and Antoine had been together for eight years before getting engaged in January 2020.
She previously admitted her divorce from Justin had put her off the idea of tying the knot again.
Natalia said: “Honestly, after the last divorce I wasn’t rushing to get married. But time has shown that this relationship is very strong.”
