Conner Ives to receive British Fashion Council award

Conner Ives, Clio Peppiatt, Nicholas Daley, Paolo Carzana, Tolu Coker and Patrick McDowell will all receive financial investment from the British Fashion Council in addition to guidance to help them build “resilient, future-facing” businesses.

Conner Ives has been named as one of six designers to receive a British Fashion Council Fashion Trust award.

Conner, Clio Peppiatt, Nicholas Daley, Paolo Carzana, Tolu Coker and Patrick McDowell will all receive financial investment from the council, in addition to guidance to help them build “resilient, future-facing” businesses.

Laura Weir, CEO of the British Fashion Council (BFC), said that the Fashion Trust remains “a vital part of that commitment, demonstrating the value of sustained, strategic support for British fashion businesses”.

She added: “We are proud to support this year’s recipients as they strengthen and scale for their next chapter.”

American designer Conner is one of the biggest names of the group, and has dressed stars including Rihanna, Lila Moss, Dua Lipa, Kylie Jenner and Simone Ashley.

The winners were selected by a panel of Caroline Issa, CEO and fashion director at Tank, Barbara Campos, CEO of Joseph, Neil Clifford, CEO of Kurt Geiger, Narmina Marandi, co-chair of the BFC Foundation and Richard Johnson, the chief business officer at LuxExperience.

In a post on Instagram, the BFC said: “Each year, leaders from across the global fashion and creative industries come together to help identify the designer businesses with the vision, creativity and potential to scale.

“With expertise spanning retail, business, investment, legal, publishing and design, the panel plays an important role in supporting the long-term growth of British fashion businesses through funding, mentorship and strategic guidance.”

They added of the Fashion Trust award winners: “This year’s recipients represent the creativity, innovation and entrepreneurial spirit shaping the future of British fashion.”

The designers themselves took to the comments section to weigh in on the honour, with Patrick writing: “Exciting!”

Tolu added: “Thank you, honoured”, while Clio commented with numerous red heart emojis.

Nicholas added: “Thank you for the continued support.”

Someone else in the comments section wrote: “What a great initiative!”

While another added: “So deserved.”

“Good list,” someone else wrote.

The BFC Fashion Trust was founded in 2011, to give financial grants and support and guidance to designers at a pivotal point in their company’s progress.

Since its inception, the Fashion Trust has helped 59 businesses – with grants totalling more than £3 million via the BFC Foundation.
