Sarah Shahi has admitted late actor James Gandolfini gave her one of the “best kisses” she’s ever had.
The Sex/Life actress appeared on The Bossticks podcast, when she reflected on starring alongside The Sopranos star in an episode of the beloved TV show back in 2007.
She said: “I did a sex scene with Tony Soprano. One of the best, I have to say, kisses I’ve ever had.
“I remember thinking to myself, like, how am I going to get turned on by this 47-year-old large balding man? Like, there’s nothing. How is this going to work for me?
“But oh boy, did it work for me!”
Sarah, 46, added that she’d had to sit on James’ lap for the sex scene between her character and James’ mob boss Tony Soprano.
She laughed of the scene: “Then we have to kiss, and when they called ‘cut,’ we were still kissing.
“We did it three, four times, and every time, they would call ‘cut’ and we’re still f****** making out.”
Sarah also said that James, who died aged 51 in 2013 following a heart attack, was “incredible”.
Hinting at his troubles with alcohol and drug addiction, she explained: “He was a very troubled man, but the crew loved him.”
James had to issue an apology to Sarah after he accidentally forgot to turn up for their first day of shooting together.
Recalling his gesture after the misstep, Sarah said: “I went back to my hotel room and he sent me a dozen roses with a note saying, like, ‘Sorry about today. Don’t be nervous because I suck. Love, the fat man’.”
When she eventually did meet James, she said she attempted to “match his energy” by quipping that she would have preferred “Jimmy Choo shoes, size seven” to flowers.
Later that night, a pair of the heels arrived at Sarah’s hotel room.
James died in 2013 while on holiday in Rome.
Following his tragic passing, actress Edie Falco – who played his wife Carmela in the show – said: “I am shocked and devastated by Jim’s passing. He was a man of tremendous depth and sensitivity, with a kindness and generosity beyond words. I consider myself very lucky to have spent 10 years as his close colleague.
“My heart goes out to his family. As those of us in his pretend one hold on to the memories of our intense and beautiful time together. The love between Tony and Carmela was one of the greatest I’ve ever known.”
