Millie Bobby Brown tries to “embrace” her acne instead of covering it with make-up because it gives her so much “anxiety”.

The Stranger Things star, 22, has opened up about her beauty routine in a video filmed for Allure magazine, explaining she keeps her skincare and make-up routine to a minimum since she became a first-time mother to her daughter last year – and Millie explained she has learned to wear less foundation on her face after battling spots and struggling to find a product she loves.

She explained: “Your girl has never found the foundation of her dreams, I don’t know if that’s a relatable comment? But I could love a foundation for like three years and then all of a sudden I’m like: ‘This is the worst foundation I’ve ever used. Like why have I been doing this?’ …

“You have to find the one that works for you, works for your skin and also amount … Like change the amount of product you put on your skin. I feel like before I was caking myself up with just foundation and I was like: ‘I hate my make-up’.

“[Now] I try to do the lightest layer. I’m 22, I still get acne, hormonal acne here and there. I try to embrace it. I’m not the kind of person to try and cover it as much as possible because it actually gives me anxiety.

“I’m like: ‘It needs to breathe, let it breathe’. So I try to give it a really light layer but I also like to see some of my freckles.”

Millie also explained she doesn’t have a lengthy nighttime skincare routine because she’s busy putting her daughter to bed with her husband Jake Bongiovi.

She said: “Since becoming a mum, it’s just not about you any more. So you really have to plan your night out now. For me I do every single bedtime, my and my husband do every single bedtime.

“It’s like the best but I have about an hour to give her. And by that time you’re like, I just want to get into bed myself. I can’t really be bothered. So self-care is important, but it’s probably minimised into like 30 minutes where I’m like, shower, skincare, hair and I usually do like once a week where I really kind of hone in and do everything …

“But ultimately I want her to see me take care of myself, enjoy self-expression and she really likes to watch when I do my skincare and make-up.”

During the video, Millie named some of her go-to beauty products including Pineapple Whip 24 Hour Hydration Replenishing Moisturizer from her own brand Florence by Mills as well as the Beauty of Joseon Revive Eye Serum which she credits with banishing her undereye bags caused by sleepless nights as a new mom.

Millie also gave a mention to Spice Girls star Victoria Beckham, revealing she is “obsessed” with the bronzer from her beauty range and credited model Gigi Hadid with inspiring her latest make-up looks because she spotted the Victoria’s Secret star uses the same colour bronzer on both her eye lids and her cheeks.

She added: “Gigi, whatever you’re doing, it’s working girl, ‘Cos now I’m doing it.”
