Prime Video has announced a feature‑length documentary giving fans an unprecedented, intimate look at Lily Allen’s life, legacy and cultural impact.
Lily Allen is set to lift the curtain on her life and career once more in a new Prime Video documentary.
The feature is directed by Mat Whitecross, known for music documentaries Oasis: Supersonic and Coldplay: A Head Full of Dreams, and comes eight years after Lily’s autobiographical book, My Thoughts Exactly, which included tales of her sordid fling with Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher and sleeping with female prostitutes.
A press release notes that the upcoming documentary will “chart Lily’s extraordinary journey, from the “Queen of MySpace” who changed the rules of the music industry, to the cultural force she is today. As a pioneering woman in modern music, Lily’s sharp wit and candid storytelling directly paved the way for a generation of today’s biggest female artists.”
It promises “a rich and revealing portrait of an artist defined by her creative fearlessness.”
It adds that: “This is Lily Allen as she’s never been seen before. Raw, real, and redefining what it means to thrive in the spotlight.”
The Smile hitmaker’s personal life has become a hot topic after she channelled her heartbreaking split from Stranger Things star David Harbour into her latest album West End Girl.
During performances of the record, she leaned into the album’s themes with theatrical props, including a shoebox of letters from “brokenhearted women” and a giant cloth printed with receipts for gifts her estranged spouse allegedly bought for others.
Last month, the 51-year-old actor finally broke his silence on the breakup album, admitting it’s “weird” to hear music inspired by the collapse of his marriage.
He said the version of events presented in the songs was not his own experience.
David told Variety: “It was weird. I do believe that it is the privilege of every artist to use their experience to create art, and so I respect her for doing that.
“I can’t really say that much more, because it’s my private life.”
The actor said he remains determined to keep details of the relationship private despite intense public interest.
He added: “In spite of the fact that a lot of people don’t allow me a private life – I value it. And I also value the lives of the people that I interact with privately. I just won’t speak about that.
“Stories are complex, and that’s why I say I respect her creation of art to channel her experience. It wasn’t my experience.”
David and Lily, 41, met on the celebrity dating app Raya and married in Las Vegas in 2020 before separating in early 2025 after four years of marriage.
Lily has previously described the West End Girl album as a “mixture of fact and fiction” and cautioned listeners against treating its lyrics as “gospel”.
