Rob Lowe loves scrolling through TikTok.
Rob Lowe fears posting content online as his youngest son loves to roast him.
John, 30, likes to poke fun at the 62-year-old actor for scrolling through TikTok, a short-form video content platform popular with younger audiences.
Rob told E! News: “My son John Owen has made a cottage industry of roasting me online. I’m afraid to post anything. He’s gonna just drag me over the coals.
“He roasts me because I enjoy TikTok. I guess it’s like an old person talking about Facebook. He’s definitely on me, ‘Hey, dad, are you on are you on TikTok right now?'”
The St. Elmo’s Fire star has John, and Matthew, 33, with his 65-year-old wife, former make-up artist Sheryl Berkoff, and he likes to watch his sons build their futures.
Rob said: “Being able to be on the sidelines and be an observer of them leading their own lives and building their futures.
“Being able to step back and embrace and enjoy it, as opposed to being invested on a daily basis like the stock market, ‘It’s going well today, hope it goes well tomorrow.’
“Now, you just sit back, and you get to watch your kids do their thing.”
The Outsiders alum and Sheryl like to give life advice Matthew and John.
Rob said: “The first thing I taught them was to be entrepreneurial. I love thinking back on the lemonade stands and the car washes and how to make money, and then what to do with it – like take X amount and squirrel it away.”
The Parks and Recreation entertainer added: “It’s an ongoing conversation that everybody has with their kids, and I loved doing it.”
In March 2025, Rob revealed he has an “overly inappropriate interest” in his children’s love lives.
Speaking to AARP Magazine, The West Wing cast member explained: “I have a probably overly inappropriate interest in my sons’ love lives—because I’m angling for grandkids. It better happen!”
Rob also reflected on becoming a dad himself and recalled making the quick decision to raise them out of the spotlight when it was suggested to him that a Hollywood agent arrange his children’s nursery school places.
He said: “I thought, I am not ever going to raise my kids in a world where I have to go to my agent to figure out how to get them into preschool.
“That was literally the straw that broke the camel’s back, and we left.”
