The 35-year-old actor casually referred to partner Camille Summers-Valli as his “wife” in a new interview, though he didn’t reveal when they had tied the knot.
Discussing how he reacted to his Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie for Beef, he said: “I was trying not to tune in.
“We [were] eight or nine hours ahead [in Paris], and so maybe about a minute before the online nominations thing came out, I looked to my wife, and I was like, ‘Hey, should we turn it on?’ And we did.
“It takes a second to hit. But it’s amazing to me when anybody gets recognized for their work. For me, I think about the crew, truly. I’m just one of 600 artists that came together to make that show what it was. So to be recognized and celebrated, it’s something I don’t take lightly.”
Back in May, the former Riverdale star described the photographer-and-director as his “wife”, though he was vague on their relationship status.
In a speech at the Gold Gala, he described Camille as “my partner, my fiancée, my wife, my girlfriend.”
Charles usually keeps his personal life private, but in March he revealed he and Camille had shared their first child into the world, whose name and date of birth have still not been made public.
The May, December star’s photo carousel on Instagram included images of the couple bonding with the little one – whose face was covered – throwback pictures of Camille pregnant, and the pair enjoying individual private moments with their bundle of joy.
He captioned it: “Our family.”
The couple – who went public with their romance in January – were showered with congratulatory messages from their celebrity pals in the post’s comments section.
Charles’ 29-year-old Riverdale co-star Lili Reinhart (Betty Cooper) penned: “Angels.”
Sirens actress Julianne Moore, 65, penned: “Beautiful family.”
And Heartstopper cast member Kit Connor, 22, typed: “Love all of you.”
Charles’ fans also wished the couple well, as one user commented: “Oooo my goodness, sweet blessing! Congratulations @melton you are going to be the best daddy!!!!
“So so happy for your beautiful family xoxoxo (sic).”
A second person left: “Aww so happy for you guys! I already love her sm!!! (sic)”
And a third supporter said: “And what a beautiful family it is. Congratulations.”
In January, Charles and Camille took to Instagram to announce that they were expecting their first child together.
She shared a series of images showing off her baby bump, including one of Charles kissing her belly.
The post caption read: “making a lil family. (sic)”
