Sandra Bullock has revealed her daughter wants her to start dating again.
Sandra Bullock’s daughter told her she “needed to date” after Bryan Randall’s death.
The 62-year-old actress, who has adopted children Laila, 12, and 16-year-old Louis, started dating her late partner in 2015, and she hasn’t had another relationship since he passed away aged 57 from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) in August 2023.
However, she told the Not Gonna Lie podcast: “[Lalia] said I needed to date, but only someone where they can get stuff.
“So, I said, ‘What, a rapper or basketball player? That’s the parameters?’ She said yeah.”
The Practical Magic 2 star also revealed the “brutal” advice her daughter gives her at home.
She said: “I was getting on a Zoom, and she walks by, and she went, ‘You know, you can put a filter on that’.
“She goes, ‘You know, you can make yourself look better.’ She just types and she slides, and she goes, ‘Put it right there.’
“It was like literally someone had taken Vaseline and smeared on the lens and put a sheet in front of my face … and it’s the honesty I appreciate.”
Despite the brutal honesty, Sandra is glad to have a daughter “taking care of Mom”.
Sandra has found that as they have grown older, her kids have both become a big “influence” on her in different ways.
She recently told Access Hollywood: “I am unbelievably proud, unbelievably proud [of my children].
“And what’s amazing, is that something happens when you have kids where you stop being the influence on them, and they become the influence on you.
“Louis’ my steadfast, moral barometer. I’m always like, ‘What would Louis do?’ And when it comes to like spotting things and thinking forward, it’s Lai.
“It’s just like, they’re so completely different but yet they just give me two halves of a whole.”
And she recently explained how they handled Bryan’s illness “differently”.
She told the SmartLess podcast: “Louis handled it very differently than Laila. About two years before Bryan passed, he saw it was a dynamic that wasn’t healthy for him to be around. So, he’s very evolved. He’s like, ‘You know what? I’m here for you.’
“I didn’t want him to become the man of the family at that age. My job [was] to be both at that time.
“I want him to be a kid during a pandemic when everything is already f***** anyway and people are suffering everywhere.
“So me asking for help, I felt the guilt because everyone else was already suffering.
“But he chose to just be there and support and help me on the things that were easy for me.”
Sandra told how Laila was “more bonded until about six months out”.
She added: “And then she says, ‘Can you please say no when they call me over to go visit?’ And I said, ‘Absolutely.’
“And I said, ‘But if you do wanna go visit, I will come with you, and I will be right there. And if you tap out, I am right there.’ “
