Pressures of fame have made me, says Lisa

BLACKPINK star Lisa has reflected on the pressures of fame.

Lisa’s personality has been shaped by the pressures of fame and success.

The 29-year-old singer shot to stardom as a teenager as a member of BLACKPINK, the chart-topping K-pop group, and Lisa believes that the challenges she’s faced have moulded her personality.

Discussing the pressures of starring in a K-pop group, Lisa told Variety: “To be honest, it’s not easy for a young girl. But I think that’s what’s made me, me.

“I’m grateful that I went through that. Seeing some of my friends have to leave really hurt and made me sad, but it’s not the end of your life; it’s just a part of your life. We all grow and learn from that.”

Lisa feels proud that she made it through the auditioning process for BLACKPINK, who are one of the best-selling girl groups of all time.

The singer – who has also enjoyed success as a solo artist – said: “I know it’s kind of crazy because you have to perform in front of a bunch of people and can get cut, but it was fun.

“I look back and watch all the videos and think, ‘Wow, it’s crazy that we came up with all that choreo and did it ourselves.'”

Earlier this year, meanwhile, Lisa explained that she turned to acting because she was searching for fresh “inspiration”.

The music star turned her focus towards acting because she felt she’d stagnated creatively.

Lisa – who made her acting debut in 2025 in the HBO television series The White Lotus – told Vanity Fair magazine: “Sometimes when you’re doing the things that [you’ve done] for more than 10 years, you feel like you should find new things to find inspiration.”

Lisa was never keen on acting during her younger years, but her mother always encouraged her to pursue it.

She shared: “I feel like acting was always one of the things that I never [wanted to] try.

“When I was little, my mom wanted me to be a kid actor, and she sent me to an acting school.”
