Martha Stewart has shared her tips for taking a great selfie.
The 85-year-old lifestyle guru stressed the importance of the right angles and good lighting, and admitted she always takes a number of photos before posting the best one and deleting the others.
Asked her secret to a good selfie, she told HarpersBazaar.com: “Hold the camera right; make sure the light is on your face – not off to the side or above or below your head.
“Nothing’s more unattractive than that.
“If you look in the mirror while you’re taking a selfie, you can see what you really look like, and I think that’s good.
“Take three or four, and immediately eliminate the three or four that you don’t like. Keep only the good one.”
Martha – who launched her ELM Biosciences skincare range last year – thinks staying well into older age is a “chore” and requires a lot of effort.
Speaking about her latest product, Elemental Lip Serum, she said: “It’s the first time that we’ve had a real longevity play on a product, because the attention on longevity is vast.
“Every single magazine is focusing on it; all doctors are focusing on it; all their patients want to know how to stay vibrant and live longer.
“I think people are starting to realise that staying older and well is a chore. It takes a lot of work and a lot of attention, and I think people are finally realising that. It’s not just about shooting up 10 peptides every day.”
Martha also shared her tips for growing older with grace and style.
She said: “It’s something that we’re all going to do. You start getting older the minute you’re born, and you have to learn how to deal with it all.
“It’s about posture, appearance, good grooming, and dressing appropriately. All of those things are extremely important, even though many of us ignore them. We are doing it despite not wanting to.”
The Yes, Chef! presenter hasn’t had one particular product that she’s stuck with throughout her life because she likes to experiment.
She said: “I’m much more adventurous than that.
“I used to cleanse my face with baby oil, but I’m looking for a new cleanser for ELM right now and trying all kinds of lovely emollients to take my make-up off and cleanse my skin that leave it ultra-fresh for the next day.
“I never just stay with the product just because I’ve used it forever.”
