Joe Jonas reveals his early skincare mistakes

Joe Jonas has learned what works best for his own skin, but his routine wasn’t always so measured.

Joe Jonas has had to “slow down” and figure out his ideal skincare routine.

The 37-year-old singer has admitted his approach to skin care has changed over the years, as he used to embrace a very basic system.

He told PEOPLE magazine: “I used to think my skin was just fine by washing my face at night, until I started to learn [that] skin care is really key.”

Joe, who is an ambassador for Kenneth Cole, explained that he had an awakening after suffering with his complexion following a film role.

He added: “I started breaking out quite a bit. I couldn’t figure it out.

“There [were] little things that I think that I probably used too much of or too fast, so I’m trying to slow down.”

Meanwhile, Joe recently opened up about having a similar journey with fragrances, as he recalled an awkward faux pas in his youth.

He told PEOPLE: “Going into my last year of school before being homeschooled, I wore way too much around my first crush.

“I remember going to see my brother perform at a musical theatre and I sat next to her and I just, you could probably smell me five rows back, way too much.”

Thankfully for Joe, he has learned a lot about fragrances since that day.

He said: “That you don’t have to [use] the same one. I was always set in stone.

“I was gifted one when I was a kid and I was like, ‘All right, this is it forever, right?’ You realise, oh, you can decide.”

In the mid-2000, Joe became a household name in the Jonas Brothers alongside siblings Kevin and Nick.

By 2008 the trio appeared in breakout Disney Channel movie Camp Rock, which spawned a 2010 sequel, and a third movie earlier this year.

Comparing the modern world with their own rise, Joe told The Hollywood Reporter: “I don’t envy anybody that’s doing this now, there’s probably a lot more scrutiny.

“Things happen a lot faster, and with that you also have an opportunity to kind of explain yourself quicker; when we were starting, we didn’t have a lot of options — just kind of hope that the article isn’t about you.

“Now you can at least go on your TikTok and say, ‘Hey guys, I didn’t say that’ or whatever it is.”
