Kim Kardashian ‘doesn’t care’ how uncomfortable her red carpet outfits are

Kim Kardashian “doesn’t care” how uncomfortable her red carpet wear is, but her at-home wardrobe is the opposite.

Kim Kardashian “doesn’t care” how uncomfortable her red carpet wear is.

The Kardashians star has frequently caused a stir when out in public thanks to garments such as the tight-fitting silver maxi dress she wore to a Dolce + Gabbana show in 2022 or the custom Margiela by John Galliano corset she wore to the 2024 Met Gala, but her personal style at home is the complete opposite.

She admitted to Sunday Times Style magazine: “I’m into comfort when I’m at home. When I step out, I don’t care how uncomfortable I am. My sisters used to say, ‘She’s either in pyjamas or gowns.’”

Kim’s desire for comfortable clothing was one of the factors in her launching her underwear brand Skims in 2019.

She said: “It started with a simple idea. I’ve always loved wearing shapewear but the colour choices were two options, black or a really light, nude colour. I would always dye my shapewear in the sink with tea bags to find something matching my skin tone, so I thought it would be brilliant if there was this range of almost a dozen neutral colours.

“I’m a comfort girlie. But when you think of shapewear, it’s tiny and takes for ever to put on. I wanted more comfort and ease, but to still feel that snatch.”

Kim is proud that Skims comes in a wide range of sizes to suit different body types.

She said: “Skims is for every single body. I’m not here to judge what makes someone feel confident. I’m here just to build them up and make them feel great.”

The 45-year-old beauty is very hands-on with the brand.

She said: “I still am in every fit meeting. I love being our fit model.”

The first standalone Skims store has just opened in London and Kim is “so happy” to be a part of the fashion scene in the UK capital.

She said: “Last night it was me, my mom and Kylie [Jenner], and we were talking about how, when I was eight years old, I went to Phantom of the Opera with my mom in London, and how amazing it was.

“I thought London was this, like, beautiful, big, creative place. I remember seeing everyone’s street style and how cool everyone was, how individual. It makes me so happy just to be a part of it.”
