Catherine Zeta-Jones opened up about what she’s loving in the industry at the moment, as well as what she’s not a fan of, during an interview with Awards Buzz.
Catherine Zeta-Jones misses the “yesteryear” of Hollywood, when people didn’t know everything about movie stars.
The Wednesday actress opened up about what she’s loving in the industry at the moment, as well as what she’s not a fan of, during an interview with Awards Buzz.
And top of the list of things Catherine’s not a fan of is how much information fans can get about famous faces through social media these days.
She mused: “There was a wonderful thing about not knowing everything about actors – who they were waking up with in the morning, what they were eating, where they were shopping, what they were wearing…
“And as much as social media has been a game changer on so many levels, it’s too much information. I don’t need to know, ‘Didn’t she just divorce her husband? Didn’t she have an affair with somebody?’
“I don’t want to know that… It’s the mystique of movies and actors on television and people you go and sit for two and a half or three hours in the movie theatre to see. I don’t need all the information.”
However, there are some things Catherine is loving to see in Hollywood at the moment, including the way women are dominating the industry,
She explained: “That equals content. That equals actors getting employed and there’s people like me – and a certain generation of women of my age – who are getting really interesting stuff, or going out to find it for themselves, and actually having the ability to get it made.
“I’m loving that.”
Catherine takes on the role of art dealer and former cocaine kingpin Jackie Price in new Amazon Prime series Kill Jackie, and admitted during the interview that she loved having the opportunity to take on something that’s such a different role for her.
She said: “At this point in my career, I just relish that I can do something that’s a bit of a 360 turnaround – or a role that people would go, ‘Oh, that’s a Catherine Zeta-Jones role, obvious choice’.
“You know, I want to get away from that. Nothing wrong with that – I love Catherine Zeta-Jones roles – but I wanted to just let it all hang out a little bit more.”
