Adwoa Aboah reveals how ‘important’ it is to have ‘really honest’ chats with Emily Ratajkowski

Supermodel Adwoa Aboah has admitted having fellow catwalk star Emily Ratajkowski as a friend in the fashion industry is crucial, because they have honest conversations and “talk shop” about their careers.

Adwoa Aboah finds it “important” to have a friend like Emily Ratajkowski in the fashion industry.

The 34-year-old supermodel enjoys “talking shop” with her fellow catwalk star, 35, because the pair have “really honest” conversations with each other.

Speaking to News.com.au, she said: “To have a friend like Emily, who is in the same business, is even more important.

“We can talk shop. We can discuss things. We’re really honest with each other.

“Whether it be Emily or some of the other friends I’ve made in my late 20s [and] 30s, they’re so important to me.”

While Adwoa – who starred alongside Emily in Lena Dunham’s Netflix rom-com series Too Much – is frequently described as a supermodel, she “doesn’t think too much” about that particular label.

She added: “I don’t really know how it feels to be called a supermodel.

“I don’t think too much about it because I don’t really tend to concentrate too much on people’s perception of me.

“I’m really just grafting, you know? I’m too involved in the actual work to think about the label.

“It’s a feeling – I don’t tend to think too much about the label.”

However, the star – who has two-year-old daughter Shy – confessed she should celebrate her successes instead of immediately rushing onto the next goal.

She added: “I should spend a little bit more time sitting in the accomplishments.

“I don’t know if it’s just the nature of the game that we’re always looking for the next thing. And it’s not about wanting more.

“I don’t feel incredibly unfulfilled; I feel very content.

“I like whatever work does for me, in terms of stretching that muscle and challenging me.

“So I think sometimes it takes me a moment to really sit back and look at everything that I’ve achieved because I’m like, ‘gotta do more!’ “
