Pete Davidson has revealed that he draws inspiration from his critics.
Pete Davidson feels “inspired” by his critics.
The 32-year-old actor plays notorious mafia killer Tommy Pitera in Tommy Karate, the new crime thriller film that also stars Camila Mendes and Simon Rex, and Pete sees the role as a landmark moment in his career.
The Hollywood star told Interview magazine: “First of all, it’s the best book I’ve ever read — and I’ve read maybe five — but I read this book.
“It’s the best true mob story never told, and when I read it I was googling, ‘Where’s this movie?’
“It’s about a f****** Italian guy who gets bullied in high school, goes to Japan to learn karate, and then comes back and becomes an enforcer for the Bonanno crime family.”
Pete feels he’s previously been pigeonholed as an actor, but he jumped at the opportunity to play Tommy in the upcoming movie.
He reflected: “It’s so great; it’s dark and f***** up, and no one believes I can do it.
“If you’ve read the comments under any articles related to this movie, none of them are positive. I’m very inspired and fuelled to prove myself.”
Pete admitted that he can’t wait to begin shooting the film.
He said: “It’s going to be fun, dude. We’re shooting next month. It’s wacky, so I’m excited.”
Pete previously starred alongside Eddie Murphy in The Pickup, the 2025 comedy movie, and the 65-year-old actor claimed to have had “a lot in common” with his co-star at the time.
Eddie – who, like Pete, previously starred on Saturday Night Live, the long-running TV comedy show – told Extra: “I was looking forward to working with him.
“I was a fan already from SNL, and we have a lot in common now. We both started doing stand-up when we were really young, and we both started Saturday Night Live when we were really young, and we both lost our dads when we were really young. So, we had a lot in common, and he’s a new-generation SNL. So, it was exciting.
“I love working with SNL alumni. I feel like a kinship to all of them.”
Pete Davidson feels ‘inspired’ by critics, but why?
