Billie Lourd shares beauty tips from Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds

Actress Billie Lourd has revealed her grandmother Debbie Reynolds taught her how to take care of her skin while she learned the art of “messy” make-up from her mom Carrie Fisher.

Billie Lourd still uses beauty tips from Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds.

The American Horror Story actress, 34, has revealed her grandmother Debbie taught her how to take care of her skin as the Singin’ In The Rain star was devoted to her beauty routine and never left the house without her trademark wig and a full face of make-up – and Billie admits her mother Carrie was totally different but taught her valuable lessons in having fun with her looks.

Billie told Into The Gloss: “My approach to beauty is a mix of what I learned from my mom and my grandma – they had such an interesting dichotomy.

“My grandma literally never left the house without a full beat and a wig. If I visited her, I had to call in advance so she could put on her fancy turban and glam.

“She was all about facials, always cleansed her face at night, and made sure her make-up was fully off. Her closet was lined with her wigs, and she knew how to glue the lace down like a pro. It was unbelievable.”

Billie added of Star Wars actress Carrie: “My mom was the opposite. She never washed her face, which makes me shudder, and would go to sleep with glitter and caked-on foundation.

“She loved make-up, but she was really messy and rave-y with it. And by the way, she was using actual arts and crafts glitter on her eyes with painting – not make-up – brushes.

“When she was on set, they would have to put up signs that said: ‘This is a no glitter zone.’ It was iconic.”

Billie explained she’s taken some of her grandmother’s sensible approach to beauty along with her mom’s love of glitter.

She added: “I watched both of those experiences and knew there had to be a middle ground somewhere.

“Like my grandma, I’m now obsessed with washing my face no matter what. Even if I get home at 5AM after work, I take a shower, double cleanse, and do my whole skincare routine before getting into bed.

“But then, like my mom, I’m never boring with my make-up and I live for glitter – it’s a neutral for me.”
