Lady Victoria Beckham has insisted her 14-year-old daughter Harper Beckham has no plans to launch a beauty line just yet and is instead focusing on her schoolwork as she approaches her GCSE exams.
Harper Beckham has no plans to launch a beauty line just yet and is instead focusing on school.
Lady Victoria Beckham has opened up about her 14-year-old daughter’s future in the beauty business after previous reports suggested the teenager is on the verge of debuting Hiku By Harper – a skincare and beauty brand inspired aimed at young consumers and inspired by Korean products.
However, Victoria has insisted Harper is busy with her schoolwork as she approaches her GCSE exams. During an appearance on The Sunday Time Style podcast, the Spice Girls star explained: “She’s very passionate and has a point of view but at the moment she is at school and working really really hard but we will see what happens.
“She loves make-up and skincare. She has really struggled with her skin but the one thing that doesn’t change, little girls love to go shopping.
“Harper loves to go shopping and make-up shopping and that’s such a nice feeling we can do that together. It was Harper’s idea but she loves it and it is something we can enjoy but at the moment she is focusing on her GCSEs”.
It comes after The Sun newspaper shared details of Harper’s potential beauty venture, with a source telling the publication: “Harper loves fashion and make-up and has already started doing make-up tutorials.
“The plan is to create a brand aimed at the younger market, taking inspiration for pop culture and Korean beauty.
“The Beckhams are incredibly encouraging parents when it comes to their kids’ talents and exploring their hobbies and business ideas. They’re a very entrepreneurial family.”
However, the publication later reported the plan suffered a setback after officials at the US Patent and Trademark Office rejected plans to trademark the name Hiku By Harper because the name Harper is already licenced for the sale “brooms and scrubbing brushes” while Hiku has been registered by a company selling “fragrance and toiletry products”.
The publication claimed the name has been given the green light in the UK.
The news comes after family matriarch Victoria opened up about “Brand Beckham” – insisting the evolution of the family’s various business ventures happened naturally after her eldest son Brooklyn, 27, stunned the world when he released a statement in January accusing his parents of prioritising their brand above everything else.
Speaking to Emma Grede on her Aspire podcast, Victoria appeared to address the family fall out, as she began by reflecting on the ‘Brand Beckham’ fascination.
She said: “When David and I first met it was never our intention to start a brand. People talk about ‘Brand Beckham’ – that has happened so organically. “When I first met David, I mean he was a Brylcreem boy. So David was Adidas and Brylcreem and Pepsi and I was in the Spice Girls and that’s where I learnt so much about how to build a brand and marketing.
“While he was doing Brylcreem and Adidas, the Spice Girls were doing Walker’s crisps, Pepsi, Chupa Chups lollies, deodorant …
“So when, people talk about ‘Brand Beckham’, that was never something that we even discussed. We don’t have any deals together. David does what David does, I do what I do.
“That’s the way it’s always been. We have very different interests. I think it was the outside world that really talked about Brand Beckham, that’s never really how we saw it. We’re just doing what we do.”
Brooklyn’s explosive social media rant also accused his parents of ruining his wedding to model Nicola Peltz in 2022, and made it clear he had no desire to reconcile with his “performative” family.
In posts shared on Instagram, Brooklyn addressed ongoing tensions with his parents, writing: “I have been silent for years and have made every attempt to keep these matters private.
“Unfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed.”
He added: “I do not want to reconcile with my family. I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life.”
