Ant Anstead has given his verdict on whether he will marry his longtime girlfriend Renee Zellweger – declaring they are “really happy” and they don’t need to give their relationship a “label”.

The Bridget Jones’s Diary star struck up a romance with the TV presenter five years ago after they met on the set of his show Celebrity IOU Joyride, with the couple bonding over their shared love of cars, and Ant – who has been divorced twice – has now given his verdict on whether they will ever get married.
He told The Telegraph newspaper: “I still believe in marriage, but right now we’re really happy. We don’t need the pressure of a label.”
He added of Renee: “She’s a very real person. She’s absolutely brilliant, the most grounded, humble person.”
The couple have been together since 2021 and they were previously rumoured to be engaged but the reports were later confirmed to be untrue.
Ant was previously married to Louise Herbert and Christina Haack, while Renee was married to country singer Kenny Chesney for four months in 2005. The TV star has two older children from a previous relationship as well as a seven-year-old son, Hudson, with Christina, who lives in the US – and he’s now revealed he’s planning to settle in America permanently and is going through the process to obtain a green card.
He told the publication: “I’d established this really lovely ecosystem. My older kids went to boarding school in the UK, they’d have time in California, and I’d travel to them.
“I’m fully American. I’m going through the green card process. I use words like ‘sidewalk’. I was staying.”
Ant previously admitted seeing Renee welding helped win him over because he discovered she’s a “hands-on car girl”.
He told Hello! magazine: “One of the many, many things that attracts me to Ren is that she’s a hands-on car girl. It’s really cool that we met on a car show. “She welded – I mean, how cool is that?”
Ant and Renee have been busy overseeing the restoration of an old farmhouse in the UK which he bought for his parents and he credits the actress with taking charge of plans for the house because she’s “very, very good at designing”.
He added: “She’s been a big influence on that; she’s very, very good at designing. So, I’m obviously going to take advice from the person who’s way better at houses than I am.
“I am constantly being advised, because she’s the greatest human I’ve ever met.”
