The sequel to the 2015 game was announced at Summer Game Fest early in 2026, but now gamers have been given a firm launch date.
As revealed during Sony’s State of Play showcase this week, Until Dawn 2 will launch on January 28, 2027.
The game will follow a group of TV ghosthunters called Dead True as they had for tropical climes for a new assignments.
Sony teased: “An investigation at Blackwood Sanitorium takes a chilling turn.
“An encounter with supernatural survivor Yoona leads them to Akishima Island, a remote paradise abandoned for decades and hiding secrets far older than any of them imagined.”
Stu Tilley, creative director at Firesprite Games, revealed the studio will be working with Dispatch creators AdHoc Studio on the highly anticipated game.
He wrote in a blog post for PlayStation: “You can expect a deeply layered story packed with rich characters, razor-sharp dialogue, fraught relationships, tough decisions, and yes… more than a few gruesome deaths.
“Every choice, every interaction can ripple with dramatic consequences.”
IN the teaser trailer, the team are seen investigating Blackwood Sanitorium, as they shoot an episode about tragic events from 12 years ago.
As with the first Until Dawn game, which got a remake in 2024, every choice you makes matters.
Supermassive was the studio behind the original Until Dawn game, as well as similar interarctive horror titles like The Quarry, The Dark Pictures Anthology and 2026’s Directive 8020.
In a post on the PlayStation Blog back in June, the new Until Dawn 2 team announced: “Until Dawn 2 is a standalone experience, featuring a brand new cast, a whole new world to explore, and true to form, a modern horror experience packed with intrigue, emotion, twists, and the kind of choices that will keep you up at night.
“Your decisions still shape the story: who falls victim, and who survives Until Dawn…”
